DARCY HOUSE
Things we take for granted on a cold winters night!
Your $$$ = Blankets, Underwear & Socks
A local charity in Port Kembla called Darcy House which is run by the Baptist Community Services is in need of help. It is a safe place for street-based sex workers and people who are homeless or marginalized in the Port Kembla and surrounding areas. Clients are supported to address issues such as health, drug and alcohol dependence, mental illness and homelessness.
Some of the things we take for granted such as blankets, underwear & socks are ongoing essential needs that Darcy House clients often go without in these cold winter nights.
So, I went down South on Thursday (5/8/10) to check out the op shops and picked up some essentials at bargain prices. Meanwhile, my friend Jess was running around Kmart in Figtree gathering up handfuls of ridiculously reduced underwear.
Unfortunately we have found our purses don’t stretch far enough…
HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP!
As you may realise we need your help to help Darcy House. Our credentials are affiliation with the Lighthouse Church at Wollongong Campus under the community initiative ‘We Love Our City.’ Any cash donations or donations of the much needed items mentioned above would be greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to contact me.
Shanna xoxo
